The brief
Ledgerline moved its summit from a hotel ballroom to a convention hall and wanted the room to feel like the product: calm, exact and warm. The keynote had to read from the back row and on a laptop at home.
The room
We drew a 30-meter curved wall of birch slats with three screen bands set into it, so the slides sat inside the architecture instead of on a black box. The stage was kept low, 90 centimeters, so the front rows could see faces, not shoes.
The show
Three cameras, one director and a clean program feed went to 9,000 remote viewers. Our show caller ran 212 cues across two days from front of house, and the only unplanned hold was a fire alarm test the venue forgot to cancel.
The numbers
Production came in at $418,000 against a $425,000 estimate. Load-in took three days and one night; strike took eleven hours.
