The brief
Northwind sold out its original venue in January. Eight weeks before the kickoff the event moved to a 1,400-seat converted rail hall with tall windows and no rigging plan on file.
The room
We measured the hall on a Tuesday, sent a new ground plan on Friday and had the birch slat wall cut in our shop the week after. Daylight from the windows stayed in; we built the lighting to work with it instead of blacking the room out.
The show
One general session, two awards blocks and a closing talk, all called from a single front of house riser. Every speaker rehearsed on the real stage the day before.
The numbers
Production budget $227,400, delivered at $224,900. Doors opened at 8:30 am, as printed on the badge.
